Cal spent his childhood chasing just about every fish he could cast in front of. He started fishing for steelhead trout in his home waters of the Grand River at the age of four with conventional tackle and then started fly fishing for them at eleven. You could say steelhead were his gateway fish because after chasing them for a few years on the fly he started throwing his own flies at bass, carp, pike, musky and the many other fish species all over Ohio. While still green in the guiding industry, his passion and enthusiasm for the sport are incredibly contagious and brings something interesting to every trip.
The worth of fly fishing with others cannot be measured only by what is on the surface.
Sharing knowledge, comparing notes, even just having another hand while on the water brings more value to the time we spend on it.
