Spring Turkey hunting involves early mornings, stealth, near-stillness, season-specific camo, and perfect yelps, clucks, and cuts (fancy words for humans imitating female turkeys). Just as important as the tactics is the land that we own and manage to hold healthy populations of turkeys.
Spring Turkey hunting season in Ohio and Pennsylvania is generally open in the month of May, give or take a few days. During the Spring Turkey season, female turkeys (hens) are protected and not open for hunting. The target species in the Spring are mature male turkeys who gobble, strut, and parade to attract a female hen. Our team of guides are consistently in the Spring woods and fields leading up to the Spring Turkey season to visually and audibly confirm the location of flocks of turkey and specifically, large, long-bearded toms.
Our Spring Turkey hunts start at Covered Bridge Lodge with a welcome and intro to the upcoming hunt.
